Carlos Pons Guerra to choreograph for Ballet Hispanico

Choreographer Carlos Pons Guerra has been commissioned to create work for Ballet Hispanico of New York, where he will be choreographing in autumn 2017, as part of the company’s Instituto Coreografico, as well as in spring 2018.

In his initial visit, Carlos will be taking part of the company’s innovative Instituto Coreografico, a choreographic laboratory through which Ballet Hispanico encourages the development of Latino leaders and the creation of new works of art that expand our cultural dialogue. Carlos will start creating a new work during this period, mentored by BH staff and its Artistic Director, Eduardo Vilaro, and will develop the work in 2018.

The company will be celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept.15th- Oct.15th 2017) with an exciting and diverse range of events, which will feature a work-in-progress sharing of Pons Guerra’s new work, which promises to use his absurd and comic voice to deconstruct Spanish themes and gender clichés.

The sharing will take place at the company’s Manhattan studios on October 5th at 7 pm. For more information, and to read about more of Ballet Hispanico’s events for Hispanic Heritage month, visit- https://www.ballethispanico.org/hhm
